WASAR TTT '10 in Stevenson booked solid in less than a month. We expect 2011 to be a stronger turnout and recommend early reservations. Reservations may be made with $100 deposit due with registration with the final payment due on February 1st, 2011
WASAR TTT'10 is designed for basic to advanced trailing/ tracking dog handlers. Space is extremely limited and reservations are already being taken. This course is also a California Peace Officer Standards and Training Certified K9 Handlers course: 5410-21150-08
WASAR TTT'11 is predominantly hands-on field work and very little time will be spent indoors. The woods will be your university. Our TTT courses are designed for the working dog handler and are taught by some of the finest veteran trailing instructors on this continent.

This course is open to law enforcement and search & rescue handlers. Due to the apprehension nature of most of the LE K9's in attendance, this class may be separated into LE and SAR groups for safety.
Class size is limited to 20 K9 teams and 12 observers with a student to instructor ratio of 5:1 maximum. All field courses will be ran in moderate to difficult terrain sometimes involving several miles or more on foot. All TTT Trailing courses are run almost exclusively in the field. It is our philosophy to learn by doing and there is no better classroom than the field. Students can expect to work in all conditions and from 8-10 hours per training day. Students will be broken down to ability levels, basic, intermediate, and advanced, as determined by the TTT Certification Standards.
Training begins promptly at 0900 hrs on 5/15-Day 1, and continues daily to 5/18-Day 3. All class start times are 0900 hours except for a single night trail session on 5/19-Night 4, at 2100. 5/20-Day 5-time TBA, is a WASAR Conference Classroom presentation on Trailing K9 Deployment Strategy. All attendees for this classroom presentation must be registered for the WASAR Conference.
New TTT Students: Day 1 morning session is classroom instruction on scent theory, scent identification, preservation, collection, and presentation; lead handling, and reading K9 body language. This will be followed by evlauation trails to determine the new K9 teams ability level and ultimate break-down to basic, intermediate, or advanced classes.
TTT Alumni: Day 1 will consist of evaluation trails, class break-down, and begining training trails.
All Students: Day 2-4 will be field trailing exercises with assigned instructor.
All WASAR Registered students: Day-5 Classroom on Trailing K9 Deployment
All students will receive a course certificate for 40 hours of continuing trailing education. TTT Certification for basic, intermediate, and advanced certificates will be available to TTT Alumni.
Cost per K9 Team is $475.
The TTT Trailing Course is considered separate from the WASAR '11 SAR Conference. Registration for the conference is done through WASAR only. Registration for the Trailing Course is done with us.
Required equipment:
- Long lead of 10-30'
- flat collar
- trailing/ tracking harness
- 2- pair of boots
- change of clothes in the field
- suitable clothing for field work ALL DAY
- rain gear if necessary- rain is a training aid
- portable water container such as a camel pack
- box of freezer type Ziploc bags
- box of 4X4" sterile gauze pads
- At least 30 surveyors flags with your initials on each flag with indelible ink in large letters
- any food you and your K9 partner might require
Recommended Equipment:
- GPS, Rino, etc.
- Two Way, multi-channel radios
